Traction control switched off by the driver
Very commonNearly every vehicle has a button that disables traction control, and it is commonly placed where a knee, a bag or a passenger finds it. On most cars a brief press disables traction control only; holding it for several seconds also disables stability control.
How to spot it
The lamp appeared instantly rather than gradually, usually accompanied by a TRAC OFF or similar message, and a second press or a restart clears it.
The fix
Press the button again, or cycle the ignition. If the light will not go off, the switch itself may be stuck.
