Maintenance Costs

Scheduled service pricing, and which line items on the quote are optional.

Maintenance is the part of car ownership you can plan for, which makes it the part where comparison shopping pays. Oil changes, fluid services, filters and alignments are competitive, standardized jobs — the same work is available at a dealer, an independent shop and a national chain within a fairly narrow price band.

The variance comes from what gets added. Induction cleaning, fuel system flushes, engine flushes and coolant additives appear on a lot of maintenance invoices and on almost no manufacturer schedules. Compare any quoted 30,000-mile service against what your maintenance schedule actually lists before approving it.

Maintenance Costs estimates

Cost figures are national US estimates for planning purposes. Actual pricing varies with your vehicle, engine, location, shop labor rate, and whether OEM or aftermarket parts are used. Always get a written quote before authorizing work.
